So glad we could give a piece of furniture that is over 100 years old a face-lift

Antique Rocker Before & After

This little chair was having issues with the frame as well as all the inner workings!
Thanks to Scott at Turner's Fine Finishes; the frame was beautifully repaired and given new life.
We re-worked the inner parts; saving the original horse hair!
New webbing fixed the sunken seat and new fabric gave this chair many more years to be treasured by the owner!

Rocker

This little antique rocker lost its back cushion somewhere along the way.......

But now it has a whole new look!

A tailored skirt gives this piece a clean look!
Blue denim with red denim welt accentuates the lines of the chair.

5 Star Unique!

This vintage platform rocker has ALOT going on.....
The only wood on this rocker is the platform!
It is actually constructed from a spring system and all the upholstery is hand sewn.....

This one was in sad shape when it arrived here at Nip n' Tuck Upholstery!
This was one that we absolutely had to salvage.  There is so many styles going on in this single piece!
1. Button Pulls
2. Button Tufting
3. Roushing
4. Welting
5. all with a Tight seat and back.

1950's Spinalator

Family Health Care
"Walk-In Medical Care for the Entire Family"
refurbished a 1950's Spinalator!
This was a fun little blast from the past to work on!
A spinalator table is most commonly used to mobilize and massage your spine and stimulate muscle mobility. These tables are frequently found in a chiropractic office.

Thanks Anna for choosing Nip n' Tuck Upholstery to restore your table.  We hope it helps those in the community that are in need of your services!

Queen Anne Gone Eclectic....

Many reproductions have been produced in the Queen Anne style since the Colonial period.
While some of these are old enough to be considered true antiques, they do not typically have the finely crafted details found in early Queen Anne style pieces.
This is another example of the eclectic style!
Adding a modern style fabric; in this case a zebra print motif,
to a antique Queen Anne style chair.
Very fun, project!

Once old...Now new!

When you own and care for an antique, you are steward of a relic of the past!
This is a rocker that belonged to our customer.  She spent time rocking in this when she was a little one and now her grandbaby will be getting her 1 year old picture taken in it!
The basic premise of an antique is that it had a life (gaining character) before you owned it and it will  have a life after you!

More working on location.....

In the movies, sometimes...you need multiples of the same!
This was the case for this stagecoach!
They had to be identical.....

Here we tufted teh ceiling, upholstered the seats, walls and doors!

Added shades for the outdoor scenes.....
Even though, you may not get a good look at the seating inside these coaches, the seats still needed to look and feel authentic!

All the details......

Putting it all together....

See more tomorrow!...

Reid Chair.....

This is a late 1940's HeyWood Wakefield chair.
It was recoved during the 1960's.
The Before.....
The cushions were getting a little tired and no longer holding their shape
& the fabric was definitely in need of a facelift!
NOW.....

New comfort foam and
updated fabric with simplicity that compliments the beautiful frame.

Lunsford's Leather Chair

Taylor's Comfortable Chairs is the label on this antique!
This company was an American manufacturer of upholstered wood office seating.
Unfortunately after 196 years in business and owned by the same family (7 generations!) they have closed the doors. (June 15, 2012)

The chair was upholstered in a dark navy in color leather; that was in bad shape.
Now....with a little TLC and new Espresso color leather; this chair has years of life left in it!

Beasley Morris Chair

This antique Morris Chair and Ottoman look great in the Recycled Leather Product ReCast!
While this is not a matching set; it sure helped to allow them to be used together.

Recycled Leather Rocker

This sweet antique rocker was newly covered in Recycled Leather!
ReCast products are a great alternative for those on a budget.
This product was developed as an alternative to genuine leather.  It looks and feels like the real thing at a fraction of the cost!
It is definitely easier to maintain.....simply clean with a tiny bit of soap and water.
This product is highly durable and is definitely more environmentally friendlier than genuine leather.

Smith Sectional

This is a Large 3 piece sectional from the 1960's
The customer chose to use a Recycled Leather on this piece in a Tuscany Red.
They also chose to keep the integrity of the piece by keeping all the original inside materials.
The new nailheads were all hand set & placed in the same location as the originals.

This will be a beautiful piece in their living area!
What a great place to sit back and watch the fire.
