This is an antique Library Chair!

This pieces goes from a chair to a ladder.....to reach the high books!

This was such a fun piece to replace the cane in! 

So glad we could give a piece of furniture that is over 100 years old a face-lift

and many more years of life!

 

Hole to Hole Traditional Strand Caning

 Keeping the cane, natural, makes for a great contrast on this little piece.

Traditional hole-to-hole chair caning is a well-known seatweaving technique, woven by hand, one strand at a time, using a material called “cane.”

This cane weaving material comes from the Rattan Palm and is imported from places like Malaysia, China and the Philippines to the USA.
